Have an Acropora Pikachu that have some strange polyps on the base. They seem retracted but is pretty normal in the upper section.

Anyone who have a clue what this could be?

I also notice some strange tissue on it. Any advice what this could be?

The darker section? It is very hard to tell in the picture. Honestly it looks like an AEFW. They look very similar. Brown/Tan blobs. Does the dark section change shape? But I don't see any bite signs or eggs. Again very hard to see in the picture.

I am plenty sure that i am not dealing with AEFW. I had a system infected with this some years ago and I cannot find any bitemarks or any signs. Have 4 wrasses just to be sure.

It have not changed. It was a little bit smoother before I received the frag but curious if it’s get too much flow?

I also have a Turaki and a Echinata that have some rough tissue especially on the tips.

Ya like I said the picture is very hard to tell and I didn't see any other signs on that coral. But a darker shape like that is very similar to AEFW.

Honestly the coral looks good overall. That flesh is slightly different but it looks healthy and happy for sure.

There are several threads on this issue. Search tulip polyp syndrome amd neoplasia. Lot of speculation as to what causes it, but I have not read anything definitive.

The bumpy skin and "tuliped" polyps are not normal. It is some sort of disease/ailment that stunts coral growth. I've had several pieces doing this for a couple of years now. Had some luck clipping the affected area. New growth usually comes out alright.

Yes, those areas of bumpy skin that you have circled especially in the middle. And yes, the "tulip" shaped polyps. More prominent in the base, for sure.

Strange syndrome. 😌 It’s always something to worry about with reef tanks for sure.

This is my only colony that have the tulip polyps but my Echinata colony is have some strange tissue growth at some tips. The polyps are normal there. Was think it came from the circulation or something.

As I read in the post about this syndrome, it could refer to wrong values or bacteria’s? Should I stop dose bacteria’s for a while maby?

I don't think it's bacterial. I swabbed an affected acro and sent it to aquabiomics and nothing out of the ordinary came back.

Maby just wait it out. Only one Acro that are affected.

Could high flow do the tissue look like this too?

Doesn't seem to be flow related.
Someone (Maybe Adam from Frag Garage?) mentioned something about acid regulation or something between the tissue and skeleton. I don't know what would cause thay.
