I recently moved an acropora and while out of the water I got a good whiff of it. It smelled a little bit like the ocean, but also a surprising almost sweet smell. It doesn't smell bad, just a very unique smell. Anyone else experience this?

Especially green slimers. When they are unhappy you can smell them from far awayIts when they are distressed from moving or dipping outside of water.
"what you’re predominately smelling is a sulfurous compound called dimethylsulfoniopropionate, or DMS for short. That is why out-of-water Acropora give off an odor reminiscent of faint rotten eggs."
Corals and Symbiodinium produce DMS (lots of it!) to protect themselves from oxidative stress that can occur when corals are out of water.
