Hello,

Question, how much activated carbon should I be using in my filter in my 75 gallon tank?

I am currently using chemi-pure elite phosphate removal formula.

if it is passive like just sitting in the sump it is hard to use too much.(talking granular/bit and not rox or lig). i rarely use carbon and only put it in if i get slightly yellow or cloudy water or if i add a lot of corals or anemones at once to mitigate chemical warfare.
if it is for specifically chemipure for reducing phopshates that is a different story and i would let your phosphate numbers dictate that. i prefer using separate carbon and gfo for that purpose as it is easier to dial in based on your parameters

Lets start with why you think you need to use carbon..

and just making sure you are aware that chemipure is removing PO4 out of your water yea?

This is what I have in my reefing notes: 300ml per 100 gallons of tank volume. I believe this was from a Mike Palleta interview on how he uses CAC carbon. This is also inline with what the ReefMooshiner’s community recommends.

I use the carbon as I have many bubbletip anenomes and to keep phosphates down. It is still present even with the chemi-pure.

Present at what level?

I personally would not be using GFO (as is in the Chemipure elite) at 0.25 ppm phosphate. GFO is not without its own downsides, such as binding trace elements.

However, I might if the phosphate would be substantially higher without it.

100%

Honestly, unless you're running an all SPS tank.. .25 is minimal - in fact, it is perfect for LPS
