I have 4 fish in a QT tank, they've been in the QT for 5 days. I just got 2 more fish in that were delayed, and want to add them. Will that be ok? Or should I setup a whole second qt tank? I have another tank that I can use, but I only have a heater and airstone, no filter. I'd prefer to not have to setup a whole second QT tank. New fish are from Harry's Marine Life and they treat with copper so the new fish already have some slight QT done.

You will have to start the quarantine process over again if you add. As long as you’re willing to do that it should be ok. Also make sure the tank can handle that many fish. You don’t want them dying from lack of biological filtration and high ammonia.

Yeah it’s only been 5 days, so I’m fine starting process over. It’s a 20g long, biggest fish will be a small white tail tang. Rest are neon cleaner goby, yellow clown goby, orchid dottyback, and Midas blenny. So relatively small fish. Have an ac 50, air stone, and small flow pump so I think filtration should be ok right?

I think it will be ok given the fish are small. Just check the ammonia on a regular basis (once a day). I also do 25% water changes every other day when I quarantine irrespective of ammonia level. I’ve had great success this way.

Correct. More often if needed but I’ve found every other day works well.

If you have salt water made ahead of time it can take as little as 10 min for the process. If you are dosing copper make sure to redose the correct amount to the new water. Also if you have other meds running that need to marinate longer you can adjust the frequency.

You will have to reset the QT clock to when the most recent fish were added.

If your QT did not have an established bio filter then keep a VERY close eye on ammonia and make frequent water changes, adding copper to new water, like stated above. Lot's of QT goes sideways for people because of lack of established bio filter and rise in ammonia. I always keep some sponges and bio filters in my main tanks that I use for QT.

Well SHOOT! I just was checking out the fish in QT, and see what looks to be velvet on two of them. I am rushing to get a second QT for the new fish but I am desperately trying to figure out how to save these guys now. I started to drip acclimate the new fish with the infected water too, so i'll need to treat the new guys too.
