It's been a year since I first received the Afterburner chalice. What started out as a glowing red rim has now spread throughout the entire chalice. It's a really nice looking chalice but I was hoping that it would stay dark in the middle. What do you guys think of how it has morphed? I also wonder what it would do under higher light. I keep the colony under 175W MH.

Honestly Perry, I like the darker purple color. Have you tried cutting a piece and place it in a different part of the tank or even a different system?

The frag I saw at Tyrees place had more of the new colors. I didn't even reconize it when I saw it...

I agree, I like the darker center. I would try brighter light like you are talking about. Hard to say what it might do.....

Steves piece looked like the 2nd pic you posted. I would think that lower light would bring out the darker color. Id cut a piece to move around the tank to play with the color...

I have moved frags to 4 diffrent systems. Everything from high MH to compact lighting and VHO. Lets see what that does.

I have to be able to figure out how to get the red rim back and keep it. I have changed the lighting to the following:

175MH
400MH
T5 w/Actinic
65w PC's

Lets see if any of those reproduce it. It's probably gonna take some time.

Dont get me wrong folks, that 2nd pic is a little on the blurry side. The red is still quite stunning. i'll try to get a better close up pic for ya. The only thing i liked better in pic #1 is the colors were much more defined.
