At that temp, it shouldn't hurt it (but you don't want that swing happening with fish or coral). I'd plug the heater into the apex and have it turn the heater on and off. That's what I do with mine. Mine is set to turn on at 78 degrees and off at 80.

Yeah I was an idiot. I had a low temp set but not a high temp. So if I let the apex control it my tank should always be at 80 if the thing is stuck open.

Ammo - Just Dosed

Dosed some ammonia today to start a true cycle and guarantee everything is working as it is supposed to. Previously I saw a tiny nitrate spike but never nitrite or ammonia. I am worried it never really cycled properly.

Made some dosing containers out of Voss water bottles. I will buy a dosing container later but this works for now and was <$5 per bottle.

Also finding my ATO container is too big. How long can fresh RO water sit? I have my top off water in a 5 gallon jug but it's going to be 2-3 weeks to use it all up.

It should be fine for that amount of time. I think the typical ATO timeframe is 2 weeks to empty. There are a lot of people on here with 200 gallon things of RODI water that sit around for months.

Looking good I like to know how you like the kessil on the 40. I am running the Maxspect Ethreal on my Nuvo 40 and love it. I almost went with the kessil. If you plan on running a skimmer I would suggest you get the Tunze 9004 dc skimmer it work amazing pulling out great skim mate with no micro bubbles. Fits perfect in the first chamber.

Thank you! I was worried.
