Does anyone know approximately how much stronger a hydra 26 is over a prime on the exact same settings? I'm thinking about switching to a hydra 26 and wondering what i should set the acclimation mode % to.

Not quite sure on the difference in intensity. What I do know is that the 26 HD's are much stronger then the prime's. I would suggest starting a %50 and doing a 4 to 6 week acclamation cycle to 100%.

What are you going to be growing and what size is the tank?

The 26 has two clusters, however it's not a straight 2x due to the smaller units better cooling just like how a 52 isn't quite twice as strong over a 26, however I think for practical purposes you can consider the 26 twice as strong for acclimation purposes.

I get better spread with two primes, I had the 26 and the shadowing was horrible. For cost reason I went with two primes (reefer 170) instead of 2 26’s and could not be happier. Running david saxbys settings with way less white and corals look awesome especially at night.

i have a nuvo 20 which is 24 x 15 and 13 high. currently i have two primes on top of it but my plan is to switch one to a hydra 26 and then keep SPS on the hydra side and LPS on the prime side. i already do have some SPS and they are growing ok (as long as its at the top of the tank), but they arent really coloring up well so i want to get some more par.

nice tank! how high are the primes mounted? im actually using saxby's settings too. I originally used saxby but wanted a more blue looking tank so switched to the AB+ for a couple months, but then corals didnt look as happy so now i've switched back to saxby.
