Hello

My tank is 4 weeks old now, and I just wanted some advice on this algae, I love algae and don't mind it but I just wanted to check it's not a type that will overgrow and strangle my corals before it spreads off this rock. Will it die down as the cycle continues? If not how is best to remove it?

Many thanks

Algae is normal. CuC and time will take care of it.

You have multiple types of algae. Any algae can overrun your tank. The stuff with roots in the rocks and leaves will be the hardest types to get out. The fine stuff like hair algaes are a lot easier to control by cutting or pulling it out and letting snails and pods ect.finish it off. If the rock comes out you can scrub that with a brush and some peroxide. Rinse then put back in the tank.
I also see an aptasia in the first picture. For sure kill the aptasia. You can read on how to do that with Aptasia X or hot vinegar /lemon juice squirted down the throat.

Thanks guys, I'm waiting for my test kit to arrive and haven't had chance to get it tested this weekend. I know my phosphates and nitrate were slightly raised but I added some polyfilter I think it was called to my filter (the stuff that changes colour but doesn't leach back into the water when full).
I have 4 banded trochus and 2 common hermits in there, I just pulled it all off I'll see how it goes.
The aiptasia is next on my list to deal with my shrimp ate all but that one.
