Got the UV sterilizer. So tonight I'll clean the glass for the first time in weeks since its COVERED in dinos and let this thing run for a couple months. I brought my phosphates up to 0.03 and gonna keep my nitrates at about 10 to 15ppm. In about 2 or 3 weeks im going to start replacing my sand bed

Based on the pics....
There is noooo Acro SPS tissue left to say it was the dino that caused it. The pics show raw calcium carbonate skeletons. Beyond dead....calcified dead
Imo, the Acros were long gone dying of STN before that dino strains started gathering

They were growing great, and they had awesome PE. Their colors weren't the best beforehand but then about a month ago I noticed the brown strings. I thought nothing of it until about 2 weeks ago when they were EVERYWHERE practically overnight it seemed then my corals all took s hard nose dive fast. All my parameters have remained completely stable. I have absolutely no swings in ALK Ca, or Mag at all and the tank is going on 2 years old so I have no clue what else would make my sps unhappy. I should just give up on sps, they are very hard Haha, and it sucks losing a $100 piece

typically ostreopsisdino from the pics shown, they are super toxic, imo, once they stick on any sps(especially sensitive acros), will cause the tissue lost!!! also the tosins released by them in the water will cause sps corals to stress out and trigger the stn or rtn if activated carbon no been replaced weekly. they do directly killed the corals especially acro sps corals,they also indirectly kill corals by releasing tosins to stress them to die. even it's a old thread but really want it to continued, it will help reefers to get some ideas of what is dino, how it happens, what was different from these types of dino and how to overcome them in wise way.
