Hello!

I’m new to the hobby, and have had my 40 gallon saltwater tank since October 2024. Recently I have had my first algae breakout and am struggling to identify the algae, cause, and next steps. My Nitrates & Nitrites are 0, I have no way of testing Phosphates at the moment. I was doing my own research and was thinking it was Dino’s? But am looking for second opinions. Once I have it identified I feel comfortable researching a bunch of remedies but would love recommendations as well.

If someone could confidently identify my outbreak below, and give me some tips on fixing it I would really appreciate it.

My parameters are in good shape outside of my nitrogen depleted. I am very on top of water changes, and have a RODI unit for water.

Here are some better photos, they often have lots of little baby bubbles on them but I reduced the light intensity and timeline today and there aren’t as many.

All blue pics are horrible with details, you’ll have to use more whites with no blues in order to take better pics. Filters help, but reducing blues is a must when taking pics with LEDs.
