Does anybody have any idea what type of algae this is and what the process is to get it out of my tank? The tank is about one month old and was started with live sand and cycled rock water. Chemistry has been steady for the past month and is continued to be in the ranges I like.

I am still getting some diatoms for some reason in the sand bed and someone on the rock, but there’s this stuff on the rock it almost looks like GHA I’m not entirely sure how to get rid of it. I can brush it off with a toothbrush but I want to solve the problem

Here are my water parameter as of today
11/5

Phos .07

Alk 10

Nitrate 1.3

what is cycled rock water?

I don't see anything concerning for a 1-month old tank, your solution will most likely be ongoing stability and cleanup crew.

I meant cycled rock*
got it. Even with cycled rock, and depending on the maturity of it/where it came from, some new tank uglies are to be expected. As long as you're using RODI water and not overfeeding, you should see steady improvement if you add cleanup crew and stay the course. The parameters you provided look fine generally, you could stand to increase N a little given P of .07 assuming your test device/kit is accurate.

To me it looks like hair algae and normal biofilm and micro algae's building up. Its all a normal part of the tank maturing. Build up the algae grazers as more algae grows, clean up crew and manual removal and regular water changes and maintenance will keep it bay.

I do weekly water changes right now i have a decent size clean up crew im thinking of adding a conch to sift the sand. I have clean rodi water too. So just manually remove and be patient.

What is a "decent" sized clean up crew? I personally think people need double what they think they need....

I'd add some trochus snails as well, they are faster moving than astrea, can flip themselves over if needed, and can breed in our tanks.

I’ll definitely get some, I may add an emerald crab incase I get bubble alage
be careful with emerald crabs, I moved all mine to the refugium because I witnessed them eating coral on multiple occasions. All crabs are opportunistic eaters, even large hermit crabs.
