Coronavirus is a thing where I live. Around 80 cases and a couple of people have died. So everyone is a bit on edge. My wife is a very serious-type person and doesn’t make jokes. She was on the train going to work and coughed. A few people ran to different cars and she laughed her butt off and called me to tell me. She’s a bad guy too ;)

I guess it's worse to die from a disease with a name instead of just flu

I just want to add, Coronavirus should be taken seriously. The rapid rate in which it has spread shows how infectious it is. I believe last flu season, the death rate was 0.1% and the Coronavirus has a death rate of around 2%. While your chances of dying are low, this could really hit children and elderly hard. Oddly there haven’t been many documented cases of children getting sick so we don’t know much about the mortality rate. Is the media overreacting? Yes. Is Wall Street overreacting? Probably not.

One interesting (but not terribly surprising) thing about this Corona virus is that the mortality is almost all in people over 60. There have been zero deaths in the 9 and under age group. In 80+ people the mortality rate is something like 14%.

It will also be interesting to see what makes this Corona virus different from the ones that are one cause of the common cold.

Keep in mind that this disease is new and has spread very quickly and hasn’t “peaked” yet. The figures could be extremely high when it is finally done.

How this virus works is, it makes you sick like a typical flu. If it makes its way into your lungs before your immune system takes of it, it will attack the proteins in your lungs and basically you suffocate to death.

If it follows other such Carona virus the spring and summer may be it's downfall.

Yes they could. The moon could also crash into the earth. The sun could explode.
Many things could happen. I prefer to deal with what is happening.

2 people have caught it. OMG 2.

Reminder 16,000 people have died and 280,000 people have been hospitalized during the 2019-2020 flu season in the US
More than 140,000 world wide died of the measels, heck, even more people died in the US slipping in the tub than the corona virus has caused. The whole corona virus things is overblown. Is it serious, yes, if you are sick, stay home, if it is bad, see a doctor. No reason for the panic and how crazy the stock market has been. I cringe when I see the thousands I have lost on paper in the last week.
Yeah, no. More misinformation downplaying what this could be. China would not, I mean NEVER, shut down entire cities over a simple flu virus. China simply doesn't care about human life. Think it through, use some actual brain power and connect ALL the dots!

In all honesty, I am not afraid. And I do think it’s being overblown. What I’m afraid of, if someone catches it in my family, we have to be quarantined for 2 weeks. If we are suspected to have it but not confirmed, we have to stay home for 2 weeks and can’t leave. If you leave quarantine, it’s jail time and a huge fine.

Flu shots folks! I'm going to lose both of my parents as a result of the flu. My dad would have been right there with you on the fake cough though.
That's more fake news. Flu shots work for last year's flu strain, as in one of them, and more than likely NOT what is going around. The flu shot doesn't protect against pneumonia, which is usually what hatms people after getting the flu. Usually there are multiple strains of flu each year, flu shot works against a best guess of 1 of the previous year's flu. My uncle got the flu shot 1 time in his life, became hospitalized. He recovered and never had the flu shot again, never had the flu again. I've never had the flu shot, have not had the flu for 30 years, 3rd grade was the last time.

I had flu and 2 pneumonia shots last year. I caught something that took 5 weeks to go away from my son just before Christmas. It took him 3 weeks to gt over it. I had to take antibiotics and steroids. it went into my lungs and locked them up.

First, there are up to 5 different strains each year in the flu vaccine and not one. Yes it's an educated guess as to which strains to put in it but they get it right more times than not which is pretty good considering how long before the actual flu season the decision has to be made.

Secondly, congratulations to you and your uncle but that hardly proves anything. Science clearly shows that flu vaccines save lives.

Thirdly, you are partially correct about the deaths associated with flu. Rarely do people die from the actual flu but complications such as pneumonia that would not happen without having the flu first.

i wipe the cart handles and push with forearms ,yrs not to catch even cold
