Hey all!

I've done a fair amount of research, and feeding seems to be a bit subjective as to what's too much or too little. With that in mind I expect to get differing answers... but here goes.

Current stock is a magnificent foxface, flame angel, starry blenny, and orchid dotty back, and about 20 snails and one hermit crab. These are just some of my starter fish while the tank matures, it's a 4x2x2 RS Reefer, running a protein skimmer, carbon, and macroalage reactor, it's been up for about 6 months.

I feed 1/2 cube of mysis in the morning, and a decent pinch of Hikari pellets in the evening. I've always heard over and over "fish always look hungry, and overfeeding is one of the top reasons for tank issues". So I've been pretty conservative on the amount I'm feeding them.

Don't get me wrong, none of them look thin or all that fat really. I just don't have a lot of reefers locally I can talk with and just wondered if I'm on point for how much I'm feeding, or could/should I be feeding more, or less for that matter. Just looking for some feedback :)

Its hard to gauge but I would say your doing just fine. I can feed my fish once every 2 days or 10 times in one day and they attack food exactly the same. I feed 1-2 cubes of frozen food blend and a pinch of once daily and every 2-3 days I feed Nori or Bok Choi for the tangs and I have 2-3x the fish load you do.

if food is gone in 1-2 mins, then it's sufficient. If there are still food left over after 2 mins, then it's too much. It's ok to feed 1x/day, fish wont die. Reason people feed 1x/day is to keep tank nutrient level low to avoid nusiance algae. However this should be based on ur tank size and qty of livestock bc too low nutrient level is not good either. Keep a log of amount fed and how the tank reacts to determine the feeding sweetspot for your tank. AFter several months, now I've concluded my tank does best at 2 feedings/day with weekly feeding of nori, calan-eeze and macro algae from sump.
