Isn't buying into the chalice craze? Don't get me wrong they are great pieces but really I just don't sell the value in buying half a inch piece for 350 dollars! I can buy so many other corals that look just as good! Lol call me crazy but I just don't get this crazy craze over half inch chalices!

I'm not into the craze, but unfortunately my boyfriend just caught the bug. So far it's limited to just two chalices, but they cost more than most of our corals combined!

I personally don't even like the way chalices grow for some reason. Yes they do have amazing colors, but I just can't get over their growth patterns. I guess I just like branchy things better.

Ha ha sweet! I'm not the only one who would rather buy 15 corals for the price of one chalice! I have also never bought in to the whole Le crap either! I mean its not like a coral is a 1942 car that's not being made ever again! Its going to grow! So how is it Le? Lol I don't buy corals BC its a Le or has a catchy name I buy because I love the way it looks! This is why I still have gsp and zenia in my 180 lol! Yup all you Le people can call me nuts!

chalice free since 2005 and still going strong...i do like to admire them from afar though.

i have a couple, but only because I traded for them. I would LOVE to buy some of these crazy colored ones out there like the flamethrower, jabawaki, my miami, etc etc...but for those 3 frags I could have a nice down payment on the 300 i'm looking to setup. LOL

I'm not into the chalice craze as well. I can only spend what I make off frags so it's easy for me since I don't have too much to frag and could never wait to save up $200+ for a chalice :D

I do have a $5 frag sitting in a friends tank that's bright orange that I'm waiting to pick up but I have to find a space for it :p

IMHO it's sorta like the difference between diamonds and Cubic Zirconia sp? I like nice corals and I do think the price is justified when it's a nice bright piece. Personally I don't think you can find the colors in most corals that you can in say.... acans, favia and chalice. You show me some xenia that has the color of a bubblegum monster chalice or a miami hurricane and I'll let go of my love for chalice.

Well said COReefer...thats like saying i dont know why a mercedes cost so much more then a ford...they both run from point a to point b. They both have the same color interior/exterior...black, red, white....The price is expensive cuz its a slow grower...if its fast grower i bet it'll be alot cheaper then what its going for...just me "ONE" cent hah

I totally bought into the chalice craze. I didn't buy into the acro, monti, acan, micro, zoa, or any other crazes, so I think I'm allowed :D All things totaled, not bad, IMO.

Gorgeous, contrasting colors, relatively easy to keep; some grow fast, others deathly slow; interesting textures and shapes. Not a bad deal....

In all seriousness, I can understand. there are corals that I won't pay for and that goes for fish too. It's sorta like buying a gem tang. I don't think they are that pretty but apparently some people do.

It comes down to your social status, if you got the money ya buy them so as to keep up with the Jones's. If ya have to take out a loan to buy one ya pass. Simple..

Ha ha ill show you zoas and lobos and torches that cost a lot less and look just as good! And a BMW IMO doesn't justify the cost esp when a nice does fusion looks just as good!

As far as the money thing I think that's wrong ill show you many broke reefers with sick expensive corals lol!

And as far as the whole if you don't like them or the price don't buy them don't worry I won't lol but that's not what this thread is about its about not falling into the it coral of the month craze
