I fragged an acan a month ago and I had a piece that didnt even have a full head and was looking fairly sad. It was only on a little chunk of rock and I figured it would die off. But I thought what the heck, if it dies I can pop it off and use the plug for something else. Well a month later and here is how it looks. Not a skittles or anything but well worth saving...

i try that with all my lps in hope of it coming back but never has worked out for me :( and yours was DEFINETLY worth saving its a very nice piece :)

You gotta love those stubborn corals that just hang on!! Way to keep it alive, I probably would have broken the small piece off and re-used the frag long before it had a chance to comeback.

That's great!! When it comes to corals I've learned to never to throw anything away without giving it a chance. Put it back in tank and if it makes it great and if it doesn't at least you tried. Never give up.
I have a frag of this chalice that is microscopic that I thought was a goner but it's still hanging in there for over three months. It's slowly coming back. It's actually bigger than a frag I got from a member on my local site at one time :crossedlips:

Its amazing how tough acans can be. I wish I had a before pic, it looked terrible. I offered to give it to a friend after it was cut and he just shook his head assuming there wouldnt be any reason to take it. I bet he would take it now.
