Hello, I am pretty new to saltwater and still learning a couple things here and there about saltwater. I got this anemone at my LFS yesterday along with 2 clowns to accompany it and I chose the anemone as a clown seemed like it was already with it and the clown was on top of this anemone. The anemone closed up when we got it out of the tank but was swaying and seemed fine yesterday in the spot that I put it in. This was yesterday evening so I turned off the lights around 10:30 pm CT. Woke up this morning around 10 am and saw that the anemone had moved underneath this rock overnight. I turned on the lights and left it to be and it seems that it is moving a little bit (swaying). By the way, one of the clowns did seem to find it yesterday and was on top of it yesterday for a little bit but not too long. Now it seems like they can't even find it probably due to it being kind of hidden. Let me know if this is normal, if I need to do something/anything, or if I need to move it. I had to take the pictures in WHITE LIGHT as you couldn't really see it in the BLUE or even the MIXED LIGHT between BLUE and WHITE. I have a 165w light and the tank is a 30 gallon 3ft wide tank.

Also should I turn off my flow or no? The flow is aimed toward the top of the tank and isn't really even coming anywhere near where the anemone is.

Normal behavior but it’s good practice to research any livestock before you buy it. I’d read up on how to care for anemones

I did read on how to care for it, I was just a little scared something might be wrong as I just had 2 clowns die a little bit ago as I purchased from petco and not a proper LFS, and they had brook. I had a fallow period for about 8 weeks and parameters are good for everything.

Petco is the last place I would get salt fish from. Heck even some LFS can be horrible. Yet alone a place like petco.
Yes I know, I made the mistake of getting it from them as I had a saltwater tank 2 years back and I got my clowns from petco that time and they were fine and never died. So I thought maybe they would be good this time too about 2 months ago and then I come home and they have brook. Also update on the anemone: last night when I was turning the lights off, I went to go do something and came back and the anemone was more opened up and you could see its mouth and the green parts of it. And you could see "tentacles" fully but this morning I woke up and hes back to being closed. Also he has moved more out and I think he is starting to get more comfortable.

Your tank looks pretty new. Common consensus is not to add a nem before 6 months.

Relax.

Super very normal.

A change in environment will do that.
He needs to reset, his photosynthetic processes to your systems water chemistry, but mostly light.

May take several days to a week or two, depends on how wide the difference was between old home and new.

Just let him find the spot he likes. Never attempt to move him.

He may settle, then move, but once they find “their” spot, they usually stay there.

Good luck.

I haven't attempted to move him, he was fine earlier today but I just saw him and he is like deflated and very small especially compared to yesterday and earlier today. I don't feel like that is normal. I am attaching a picture. The light is on white just to take the picture and is normally a mix of white and blue.

I would try to direct the flow towards the other end, in the center of the glass to deflect and cause a more random flow within the tank. Anemones love flow.
I have the flow running straight from one side of the tank to the other. I don't want to try anything else as if I move it then it might be too strong for the anemone. Can you check the picture I just posted of the anemone he looks deflated.

@Uncle99 has good advice and I agree with them.

When I first got my RBTA it deflated a number of times and moved around the first 2 weeks until it settled on a spot it liked.

The picture of your anemone deflated looks normal. You can see the tentacles are mostly pulled into itself which is a sign of a healthy anemone. If it were not ok I'd expect to see the tentacles still out and shriveled looking.

Looks to me like it's healthy and just settling in and getting used to your tank parameters. My RBTA split and one of the babies is under a rock and likes to stretch out from underneath to reach the light so I really wouldn't be worried.

Feeding wise, once a week is perfectly fine. Any more than that is probably excessive.

Best of luck and welcome back to the hobby :)

I fed him 1 fish flake yesterday so it could have been from him digesting or so.
You got him yesterday. It takes tinge.
Let him be….I can see no cause for concern.

But I would not feed him, that can be stressful right now.

I have never fed the below directly ever in 4 years.
They don’t need that, but can be fun to watch once in a while.

Give him a week first.
