Another Red Sea Failure...Viewer Discretion Advised

Many of the early failures were burst bottom front seams on larger tanks that burst and drain quickly. I think that's one reason RS originally thought the cause was lacking of a center vertical support on the stands. Their so closed mouthed about the problem even if they do correct the issue and change the silicone being used i doubt they'll ever publicly state that. Posts like this will just become fewer. Unfortunately with the Gen 3 being new it will be a while before we know if the issue is corrected or not.

True and it goes back to just how darn good their marketing team and risk management team is... quietly the problem will dissapear without ever admitting fault. Of course if they actually did fix the silicone issue lol.

They're taking full advantage of being a European company and the fact that our issue is just not quite sized right to attract either class action lawsuits or juicy individual lawsuits.

They absolutely deserve to be torched over the issue - not so much because they had an issue to begin with (any business can make an incorrect decision), but because of how they have responded. Full transparency, going above and beyond to make the owners right, and actually fixing the issue going forward.

If they had done that, maybe they could salvage their reputation. But they haven't and they won't.

Let me see if I can figure out how to upload here somehow. But yea your seams don't look too bad (sad I am even saying this)...this system was a G1, and it looks like only your seam guards are being somewhat impacted at this point...if it goes any further, I'd be contacting Red Sea again.
Knock on wood:

I also have similar seam guard (per Red Sea customer service) failure and it hasn’t progressed in nearly two years. This is only on the bottom seam.

Nerves of steal.... I wouldn't be able to sleep at night.

TBH I'm glad they aren't a presence here or failure post would most likely disappear to a vendor feedback thread never to be seen.

That's completely false. Sheesh cut us some slack! HA!

It’s “only” the 170 liter model…Not as destructive as the larger ones…

I’ll be planning a new tank upgrade next year and will be going with a CADE peninsula tank. :-)

They have 100k members on their FB group that they moderate and rumor is any post showing a failure is removed. I've tried to find any mention of it on there and nada... OP should try posting this there and see what happens.

They do remove comments and ban anyone who brings it up

Sorry Rev but I've had more than one post complaining about a product disappear to a vendor forum. One was just a complaint about an app to run my lights that couldn't keep track if the correct date and time. It only been 5 years or so since the app was released and it's still an issue. I get it tho and understand there's no way to please everyone. I do thank you for leaving the RS post stand because I think people need to be aware this issue is real.

The only way it disappeared is if you had posted the same feedback multiple times. Plain and simple. Go check the feedback forums and look at all the negative feedback for sponsors and non-sponsors. I appreciate your membership as well but I have to stick up for what I know. There may have been some confusion in your case but if members follow the TOS when leaving feedback, it will stand! Thank you.

I think what @exnisstech is referring to is anything that goes into the "feedback forums" basically gets buried unless you're someone who specifically visit that section regularly. I never see any of those threads in the "latest threads" as far as I know.

I just went and checked that forum's options and this is what I had set:

What I meant was my thread was closed and moved to the vendor feedback forum. So I apologize you are correct it didn't actually disappear but was moved to a place where most people would never see it.

I literally couldn’t watch that video! My stomach turned! And I have seen strange and weird things in my online life! Haha!

But know the loss of life in this instance is something else! So sad! Bought one 250 g2 + I think it was and selling it. Don’t care to go through such issues! I love the fish and corals too much to put them through such craziness or potential death with known issues of a certain product.

I don't have RedSea, but I have seen enough comments about failures, and worse, their lack of responsibility. I do not own. and will not buy any Red Sea products.

The ideas behind them is okay. But once you see the reviews run like crazy from them haha!

Can't see the video because I don't do IG but I'm familiar with RS failures and amazed that people still buy their tanks.

My first failure was Reefer 170 Gen 1.

I'm currently watching my Gen 2 reefer 300 full of SPS failing as I type.

I don't know why I'm worried tho because redsea says its perfectly fine so they will not do anything even tho the tank is under warranty.

From RS

Our team has thoroughly reviewed all the photos and information you provided. We can confirm that the seam protectors of your aquarium are functioning properly, and we believe your aquarium is not at risk of failure.
Are you serious!?!!!!!? They are a joke.

That's true, I hadn't thought of that. I do wonder if they've tried to offer $$$ in exchange for some control to forums. We'll never know.
I pray that @revhtree does the right thing and doesn’t bring RedSea to R2R as a partner vendor. I get the respect a paying vendor. I get the respect a fellow human thing. I just wish RedSea did too.
