Hey guys so idk if you remember but I had bout with aiptasia and I bought some peppermint shrimp. They ate it right away and I thought it was gone. I looked in my sump recently and found some more unfortunately. Any advice on how to get rid of it? I still have peppermints in my display which is why I don't have any in there so far but my sump is infested. I threw more shrimp in my sump but they died. Should I buy more ? Or should I zap them ? Or anything else you know of ? Please help! Thanks for the reply in advance!

You could throw the peppermints in there but they'll likely come back....

My 125 had a moderate infestation that I was battling for over a year, I was doing my best to hold them at bay with Aiptasia X until I had had enough. I finally bought 10 nudis and put them in. It took a couple months and I noticed one day that I couldn't find any aiptasia. The nudis multiplied and I found them in the overflows and sump. I no longer have a Aiptasia problem. :);)

Right! And that's where I was, "am I going to spend another $40/50 on a big bottle of X to only control them or $100 on some Nudis and eradicate them?" I took the eradication route and have zero regrets, other than I wish I had taken that path about 6 months sooner. ;)

he said it was in his sump, I wouldn't put a copperband in your sump, and I wouldn't get Berghia they only get aptasia an will you need lots of them. I would keep a peppermint for the display and leave the sump alone. It's not hurting anything there.
Or just scrap them off.

BErghias didn't help me but you know what did was a peppermint shrimp. HE destroyed everyone of my Apstasias in a 120g within a 3 month period. I highly recommend peppermint shrimp. You can also put the peppermint in a holding tank and put aipstasia in there as their only food. at some point the shrimp will start eating and develop a test for apstasia. Then stick in main tank and you are home free!!

It's been a never ending battle with Aptasia for me. I can't get Berghia or Peppermint because of my Wrasse (tried peppermint and they were a costly snack) and I don't want to add another fish that may or may not eat them to my fully stocked tank. I've been using Aptasia X on them so they don't get out of control and infest the whole tank. It seems I'm never going to get rid of them this way but it does keep the numbers down and easier to manage.

I've had the exact opposite reaction. Never had a Peppermint even sniff at an aiptasia, finally just stopped trying because they always just stole food from my corals. I've had great success with Berghia, though.
