Tank used to have lovely glowing (green/yellow) in the dark polyps… but red algae destroyed them. 6 mos later these guys show up. What are they? Are they the same?

Difficulty: Im not home. Wife took pics when she saw them.

Thank you everyone!

You could also add a peppermint shrimp or sea hare. If you want to kill them without adding livestock you could use F-aptasia(it has worked for some) or you could manually remove the rock dip the hydroids in peroxide and scrub them off.

Hydroids feed off excess nutrients. You might be overfeeding.
Yes. i was. danged fish act like they are starving if not fed enough! Reef madness frozen brine. Two clowns and three chromies and a stripped wrasse. A 20 gal red sea nano with skimmer. Four hammers, doing great, polyps, and kenya trees. But my leather coral and potatoe chip recently attackeed by brown algaee. Got that toned down by cutting down on feedings. Then these show up!

Have two peppermints now. Happy as clams. Molted several times.

Forgot to mention you could also get kalkwasser (I think I spelled that right) powder mixed with saltwater and spray it on them.

Anyone know what these are? Had little homes inside purple coraline algae, would retract if bothered. When brown algae bloomed on this rock (only this one rock) it ate all the purple coraline algae and these little guys too! Brown algae has been gone long time.

These things will multiply quickly and grab suspended food favoring brine shrimp. You can direct water flow towards them, not at them and they will soon starve. You can also remove the rock to a container of tank water and scrape/scrub them off
