Aquaforest reef salt is terrible!!!!!!

My parameters has been all over the place after a water change. I like to keep my tank parameters almost the same as the reef salt.

I’ve used about 1000g of Aquaforest salt. I have tested the last two batches of salt and it’s been WAY OFF! I thought it me testing it wrong! So I got a new refractometer and new test kits and reagent. Still the same results!!

I switched to reef crystals and bam!!! I had nearly the same exact parameters that match the box every single time!!

So please stay away from Aquaforest!

Wow, that's disappointing...
I use TM reef actif myself, I have been happy with that. Brightwell Neo before that. Been happy with both.
Believe me I wanted to like it because it’s suppose to mix to the parameters I wanted and it mixed clear . I really thought it was running at low elements for months thinking a new water change will bring it up. Wrong !!

Maybe you got a bad batch. Try reaching out to the manufacture. I personally love TM products, but I use Red Sea blue bucket for salt!

I’ve used around 20kg from 4 batches over a period of a year, no issues so far
Be careful!! There was a lot mix reviews for a reason about this salt and I ignored it and now I regret it so much ! Lost a handful of corals!

5 different batches and I started investigating during the 3rd because my parameters didn’t seem right. I think my first batch was good because there no bad results so I kept ordering them. 3rd , 4th and 5th were baddddddd. I’m done with this salt. Sticking with reef crystals that mix exactly as it supposed too.

Many, many folks use AF salts with no issues.

Did you mix up the dry salt before use by rolling the container around a while?

Yes!! And mixed it at 75f per instructions. At 35 ppt on a fresh mix was consistently getting ALK 6.7 Cal 380 MAG 1200. No where near their parameters that stated 7.7-8.2 , 440-460 , 1360 -1420 . I consistently had to dose extra after every water change

Exactly AF is really not upto the mark. Their parameter of water chemistry drops ! Not so stable Alkalinity and Ph

Given that all the parameters are measuring low, it appears to me that the salinity is low.

How are you measuring salinity?

Does your salinity device require calibration, and if so, how have you checked it?
