All things being equal shorter starting telomere length shows a correlation to shorter life in several species. MOA is debated but end result not so much.
Thanks for the info. I will check it out when I have time.

For people that want to dive a bit deeper into genetics I can recommend this video and it's mentioned scientific papers.


A lot of mendel gene rules only apply if the organism was heavily inbred before. Meaning your school books are extremely simplified.

To get back to topic: The chance that designer fish die because of tank conditions or missing evolutionary pressurre is a lot higher than some random inbreeding gene defect.
