Hi there, did my first ICP from ATI and it came back with the issues below -
RO -
Si Silicon 1388 µg/l Ideal value: 0.001 µg/l CRITICALLY HIGH Critical

Tank -

K Potassium 411.4 mg/l Ideal value: 379.7 mg/l ABOVE NORMAL Attention
Sr Strontium 8.88 mg/l Ideal value: 7.54 mg/l ABOVE NORMAL
F Fluorine 0.81 mg/l Ideal value: 1.21 mg/l BELOW NORMAL
Si Silicon 1037 µg/l Ideal value: 93.06 µg/l CRITICALLY HIGH Critical
I Iodine 18.59 µg/l Ideal value: 60.49 µg/l CRITICALLY LOW Critical
Fe Iron Not detectable Ideal value: 0.47 µg/l BELOW NORMAL Attention
Zn Zinc Not detectable Ideal value: 1.86 µg/l CRITICALLY LOW Critical
Sn Tin 88.46 µg/l Ideal value: 0.47 µg/l CRITICALLY HIGH

The only dosing I do is 0.6ml if Bacto-Balance daily and I do change 7 gallons of water a week in a NYOS 69g tank.

Salinity must be a tad low, but the tin worries me the most. How is the tank doing?
The test says 33 but I keep it at 35 confirmed just now with a Tropic Marin hydrometer. Going to make up a sample using your recipe to rule that out. My water sample did take 10 days to get tested, not sure if that has anything to do with it. Everything in the tank seems to be fine. Struggling with low nitrates is only issue I thought I had. More stats from my testing with Hanna and matches Trident -
11.06 ALK
444 CA
1232 MG
0.08 Phosphates
1.1 Nitrate

Are the Silicon something I need to address ?

Nope no diatoms, any words of wisdom for Tin or what I should be looking for / doing ?

I had elevated levels of tin and aluminum on an ICP test and ran MetaSorb & Cuprisorb to remove them. Not sure which one removed what but both were gone on my next test.

Tin seems to sometimes come from certain plastics and tubing where it is used as a heat stabilizer in processing.

New plumbing can contain tin. So can glass on new tanks since they float the glass in tin to move it around. Rinsing the tank prior to setup can remove a lot of that.

As far as salinity goes, ATI is never accurate IME. I did a LOT of ICP testing with them and their salinity almost never matched mine and I ran 3 different methods of testing each time.

Tank is less than a year so maybe its the plumbing? Would it be worth it to try MetaSorb or Cuprisorb like recommended above or just ride it out?

I’d use it in case it is still rising.

Is one better than the other ? Metasorb is much more expensive.

I don’t know. I’ve never seen a useful comparison. A polyfilter is another option.

Polyfilters can remove tin?

I’m not certain, but I’ve heard it can. There are many different tin forms that may be present, and they will have different properties.

Here’s a user that says none of these worked for him:
