To remind everyone if you encounter anyone with aggressive, demeaning, offensive or bullying behavior, please hit the report button to allow the moderation team to look at what's going on. It's one of many duties they oversee on the forum. Thanks!

What ever happened to manners?
People will be people and the type of people they choose to be.
There is a report button on bottom of page and do not hesitate to report what you find deemed offensive - IF ITS TRULY OFFENSIVE

Button works I had little problem few days ago, and even though I just left thread another member had my back and reported it. Moderator was quick to react and locked thread from further responses and then removed entire thread from forum. I personally PMd the moderator and thanked him for doing that then apologized that it took a left hand turn ( which I had nothing to do with) and that I think the awesome people of R2R are a great bunch of diverse n different people from around the world that are always willing to help and I feel they generally want you to succeed in this hobby
Just my opinion

I don't think it's only about something being offensive.

A lot of the posts on here will be asking for help and a poor/aggressive/confrontational response, which seems to be far more prevalent from people hidden behind a keyboard than in real life, and perhaps more often from our younger members, should be reported as well in my opinion.

Some people seem to communicate with others online in a way that they simply wouldn't (or shouldn't) dare to do face to face. Communicate on the forum in the same way as you would in person and we should be fine (except for the few who simply have no idea how to communicate and thus have few friends in the real world - we all know some). ;)

Only problem with that rule is well.... have you ever been to Miami? Or Boston? You can’t drive 100 yards without being f bombed ;Hilarious. Despite popular belief, people aren’t all righteous. Most people are pretty rude to each other in person too. Unfortunately like previously stated when you see something that's confrontational, it may have not been written with the purpose of being confrontational. A previous member stated how we can’t convey emotions throughout a chat room like we can in person. That’s why it might not be a good idea to report members from being confrontational. I think we all need to take a breath and do a double take sometimes :)

Great reminder! Let's just be nicer to others and if we’re upset or aggravated just refrain from posting! :)

Maybe try a Thumbs down system for posts are are not helpful at all. If it gets enough TD’s, you can hide it and make users click it to open and see tho post. Could be a star next to it, “our users found this comment not useful”.

I was not talking about bad language. I'm talking about speaking to people with basic levels of manners and respect rather than trolling.

We have emoticons to use for exactly the reason you mention - to help convey intent.

There are people who are rude in person - that can be dealt with far more easily than on a forum, where they are free to continue trying to wind people up. Fortunately we have moderators but they need to be informed about such behaviour.

If they have been accidentally confrontational due to an ability to communicate effectively then a moderator pointing that out to them might help to adjust that behaviour and they can improve their communication skills.

This is nothing to do with being overly sensitive. I'd like to avoid this forum going the way of so many others. If you look at some Facebook groups they are brutal and you wonder why anyone would ask anything. This is a friendly forum and a few bad people can quickly create an entirely different atmosphere.

Just curious...when a poster is reported, and the thread is locked, deleted, or whatever, do the moderators let the offending party know? I think some people may not even realize how they are coming across on the forum, and are not intentionally trying to be jerks. If nobody tells them, then their behavior will not change.

Some mods do, some don’t. How bad it is probably makes a big difference too

Typically they pm the parties involved in the infraction to let them know what's wrong.

All of us have to abide to the forum TOS. (Terms of service.)

Exactly!
Ultimately, we (mods) are here to simply enforce the Terms of Service. If you ever see anything questionably in violation of those, please report it! Rudeness, vulgarity, trolling, etc, etc... There's a lot things covered by the ToS!

It really depends on the situation. There's a bit more here:
