After about 10 years out of reefing, I couldn't pass up a 120 gallon tank and stand for $150. I always wanted a 48x12x12 and it's by far the biggest tank I've ever

I'm setting it up for a softie tank, mostly Zoanthids but with a Yellow Tang, Blue Tang, Pajama Cardinals, Percula Clowns, Manderin, Cleaner Shrimp, RBTA, and maybe a Dersa Clam.

Right now, it's been up about a week with

1. 60 pounds of Bahama oolite sand
2. ~120 pounds nature's ocean dry rock
3. 2x Hydor 2450 gph powerheads
4. 40 gallon diy triton method sump (actual water is about 20g)
5. Octopus Classic 200INT skimmer
6. 2700 gph return pump (about 1200 at the return head)
7. 2x 165w WiFi LED lights from China
8. 2x 54w dimmable ATI T5 Blue Plus retrofit (still need to put together)

I used to do deep sand bed, but I didn't want to with this. But I think there's not enough sand. So I'm going to get some more and put it in. I think I'm going to get some reef saver dry rock from BRS and replace the top pieces; it looks like a 'pile' right now I think. Been looking for some blue coralline algae, but I can't find any to seed with.

I had issues getting the skimmer collection cup in the sump (don't ask - lol) so I had to make a hole in the end of the stand. But it's in there and I've been breaking it in.

I'm having issues with the baffles, so I'm going to have to tear it down and restart. I thought the silicon was strong enough, but once water started flowing through the sump, the baffles started separating from the glass.

The plumbing was a PITA! I thought I was being smart and using bulkheads with hose barb fittings but they ended up being more trouble then they are worth.

What do you think? :)

Welcome to R2R! Nice return!

I like the way use used the aquascape and overflow shapes together. The depth with the light on is especially nice. It may be a tad symmetrical in some of the later angled images, but the straight on aquascape seems off center enough. I really like it.
