I have had tanks for over 40 years and I recently set up another tank for zoas and wrasses. I asked my supply about adding a blue reef Chromis along with the wrasses and they told me they were peaceful and I would have no issues. Boy were they wrong this guy intimidated everything in tank. I know that these are part of the damsel family but I relied and on the advise I was given by this so called major company that sells fish and corals. Luckily was able to only tear down half the reef and caught that guy. Now that he is gone all my gobies and wrasses are all coming out and seem to be very happy. My message I am trying to get across is do your research before adding fish to your reef.

I have a friend that the chromis killed a mandarin, a ruby red dragonette, and a pseudochromis...Nasty fish in deed!

There are many species of Chromis, some school and are peaceful, some behave much more similarly to their damsel brethren.

Though I must say I am surprised by the OP's experience. I have found the blue reef chromis to be extremely peaceful, delicate even, much more so than the more commonly available green chromis.

My blue green chromis is the most peaceful little guy in the tank, He actually takes BS from my pajama cardinal (you know how peaceful Pajamas are!)

I have never kept a blue reef chromis but the only Damsel I will keep is the Green Chromis and I have never had a problem. I don't trust any other damsel. LOL. I always stress to customers to know what your putting in your tank and make sure it is compatible. Sad But true a LFS will sell you anything you want and tell you its ok

Unfortunate! I always keep a few blue/green Chromis in just about every tank I've ever setup! Always model citizens!

^This I agree with.

^This not so much. Just as in anything there are good and bad LFS, but to paint the image that this is the practice of the LFS in general is simply unfair.
