Hello everyone!

My tank is now fully stocked but it looks like one extra dude made it in: looks like a Ball Anemone but want to confirm.

Some people consider them as pests, but they do not harm fish, corals, or any other inhabitants and as far as I know, they're perfectly safe in a reef aquarium, but I'm not sure about their reproduction rate, as there are some nem's like majanos that are harmless, and pretty, but spread fast. I've had one before in my hitchhiker pico tank, and it lived awhile not causing any harm or leached any minerals or nutrients out of the system, but it died after I accidentally dumped too much RODI directly on top of it during a top off.:crying-face:

I don't think that's a ball nem.

I’m far from an expert on these nems. . . but are we sure that is a ball nem? The ones I had were NEVER on the glass, rarely if ever moved, and stuck to the shadows. . .

I consider ball nems safe and kinda cool. . . but again I am not convinced that’s what this is. . .

I don’t think this is a ball nem. I had these in a previous tank and they sting like aptasia. They multiply fast too.

Mine would move all over the place, mostly when I accidentally fed it too much food, or when I swapped out the pump.

Really does look similar. Have only had this one yet tho. Again no idea where it came from.

Definetly not aiptasia. I cultivate aiptasia from spores to adults believe it or not, and they have distinct differences between what you have here.

THey do multiply fast which is the biggest reason people don't want them, although I've never had one sting anything before. Are you sure what you have is glass ball nem?

One added interesting thing is the tentacles have fully pulled in right now so just looks like a little mountain. He has been entertaining to me and does not yet seem to reproduce so I will continue to monitor.
