Barter - exchange (goods or services) for other goods or services without using money.

Today is going to be a simple question. (family friendly please ;))

1. If you could barter, non aquarium related, services or goods for livestock or equipment would you?

2. What services or goods would you offer?

My wife owns a couple of dry cleaners. I might be able to swing a deal or two. After all, technically I am a co-owner.;)

If your a hockey fan you probably seen my work on your favorite goalie :) I can paint just about anything ON just about anything. here is a jelly I did on one of my cabinets and I also Chromed this 3' shark and painted it to eventually mount on my wall with more fish.

Oh my, I really wish I lived close to you. I am sure I could find something you would like my husband to help you with or trade to you. He has so much he really does not need!

I do concrete work, benches, tables, unique stepping stones, small slab and step pours. And wedding cakes in my spare time. How about a few cords of wood? I love to trade and give away

I am starting my first hive in the spring!
It's a fun hobby and if u enjoy honey even better! I got into out of just learning about how endangered and important honey bees were the honey was a bonus I don't know anyone in my area because I live in a small place but I suggest joining a local bee keeper club I did my first year it's helpful!

I LOVE bartering! I’ve used it for everything from getting furniture to larger services. I can personally offer:

Chemistry, Biology, Math (up to Calculus 2), Spanish (I’m fluent), and English as a second language or tutoring for your children or yourself over Zoom.

Cello/Violin lessons (I played in an orchestra for 9 years and love the way a string instrument can convey emotion). Zoe Keating is a phenomenal artist that has some very interesting pieces if you love the cello as well.

I was a baker decorator and LOVE anything sweets related! My cholesterol isn’t 220 for nothing! I’d be happy to trade birthday/wedding cakes/mousse/breads/anything sweet for small things like frags or really anything interesting!

I trade my physical labor for equipment, goods and livestock all the time. I have a friend that has an aquarium maintenance/setup/etc company but he has a bad back. I'm still relatively fit for the most part so I trade physical labor when he has big jobs like moving lots of rock, setting up a big tank, etc. Saves his body, teaches me a ton about reef keeping and has enabled to set up a tank far cheaper than we could ever have done it by just straight purchasing.

I would barter all the expensive jewelry my boss gives me at the holidays, all never been worn, all huge$$, all from very famous exclusive jewelers in Monte Carlo. I've tried selling on Mercari to raise $ for my tank (new lights last year) but I think ppl don't think the pieces are real/authentic (which they are)
It's tragic they all (10-12 pieces) just sit in a safety deposit box and never get looked at :(
Any takers?!?
I LOVE some of the other ideas, the fishing trips...the gourmet dinner for 6 -- just to name a couple!
Let me know what you have available! I love fine jewelry!

Love this. I want some cakes and tattoos.... but seriously, I’m an employment attorney and would provide advice for the right deal (particularly for execs negotiating an offer or terms). It would have to be something nice - but I love the idea of bartering where both parties feel like the winner.

I already do. I exchange services with one guy in exchange for this paper that I then exchange with my LFS store for Equipment and livestock XD. jk, but yeah, If I had something someone else wanted to trade me a cool fish for or a piece of equipment, I wouldn't see a problem doing that. I don't think I'd actively seek it out though, not going out to the street corner with my sign "will work for refugium"

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
