To all those experienced reefers out there, in your opinion what is the best temp to keep your tank at. Thanks

I don’t think there is a “best” temp. I’ve always heard 76-80. I keep my tank in the middle at 78.
**Edit. Actually I guess I would say the “best” temp is what allows for the most wiggle room. That would be around 78.

I maintain 78 as well. Gives you room for a couple degrees increase and decrease without killing everything. I haven't noticed better growth from running the tank at 80 or even reduced growth from running it at 77.

Mine runs from 75-77 with slow fluctuations from night to day.

If I recall correctly from the “Tank Parameters of the Masters” thread, the temperature was almost unanimously 77 degrees. That could mean nothing at all, aside from the fact that there’s plenty of reefkeeping success to be had at that temperature.

Like sundog101 and J. Austin said, a temp in the high 70’s gives you more wiggle room in the event of a temperature rise or decrease.

77-79 is where I land year round.

On a side note about temperature and redundancy with heaters, it's recommended to run multiple heaters of lower wattage than one heater of recommended watts per water volume. If one fails on, the others will stay off and give you time to react.

Also it is recommended to have a temperature controller attached to your heaters as a second level redundancy, to control overheating and under heating.:)

Will never run a tank again without a heater controller. With the cost of livestock in our tank $30-$40 for an inkbird is well worth it.

Saved me over $1000 in fish with my discus tank

I currently run a Ink Bird on my system. Works very well.:)

Thanks for all the great replied and info. I currently use the invites and it's awesome. I have a 40 gallon AIO and the tunze cooling fan working off the inkbird is fantastic.

Best I would say 76°f. 75°-82°f is fine as long as there are no large swings. I try to keep my reef tank at 78° but am happy with 80°.

Where ever you decide to keep it within the range, keep big swings from happening. That will keep tank healthy.

I use my apex to keep my temp between 78.8 and 79 degrees

I have two finnex titanium heaters for redundancy and have their controllers set at 80 degrees

77.2 is where I keep mine. Tank is happy there, including all fish and coral.

Live in Florida have to keep heaters turned OFF most of the time. Temp in house is 75 and Tank temp gets to about 80 with no assist. My trouble is keeping the temps down.
