Hey!

I’m currently in the process of upgrading my tank and since it will be a much longer tank than I currently have set up I’m going to have to replace the T5 fixtures in my diy T5/LED hybrid.

I’m transferring tanks this weekend and I was aiming to build the new canopy as well. The problem is that the only bulbs that I can find locally is from a manufacturer called “Blau”. Anyone who has experience with these bulbs, good or bad?

I’m also looking for some guidance regarding spectrum (I always sucked at this).
The lighting will consist of a maxspect razor 160w and 4x54w T5s. I mainly like a light with good pop but not extremely blue.
Any thoughts on what bulb combination to go for? http://www.blau-aquaristic.com/t5-platinum.html

If it helps: I’m currently running the maxspect razor + aATI blue plus and a coral plus which is decent, maybe a bit to flat.

All the best!

I have not used them, but most stuff from Germany is legit and will do what it says. I have only heard about them and the reviews were fine. You probably won't get too many opinions since people flock to ATI, but if you wanted to experiment, then there is probably not too many better choices.

If it were me, I would do a pair of 6500k and a pair of Actinic. This is my go-to T5 combo since they both will have spectrum that the other bulbs will not and you can always change the color on you Razor to change the color of the tank. Some feel that this is too white looking. I like this combo because they render the best color in the coral, not because they pop stuff. Colors will ultimately be up to you and you will get a lot of different opinions here.

The Extreme Reef bulb looks interesting with a good balance of daylight and blue. I would probably try it if 6500k and Actinic combo was not sounding good.

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. They are dirt cheap (about 50% less than ATI) so if it fail I can always just get rid of them.
