Have 4 bgc in my dt...doing fine...had 5 in QT with cp...seem to lose one a day...thinking of putting them in dt or at least changing water and get rid of the cp...these fish are a trial...had them only 3 days...no symptoms to see...they hide and eventually die...dang...:(

Have you seen aggression issues? They are known for killing off the weakest member until 1 remains

Don't put them in the display without finishing your QT protocols. The can and will carry things into the display with them.

not really...sounds like firefish...didn't know chromies did the same...but havent't seen much aggression...

Meredith...would you change water and get rid of the cp...or just keep things the same and cross the fingers...?

Keep things the same. The problem with chromis is that they tend to come in with uronema which is contagious. You'll find that in a group of fifty chromis about 35 will survive given proper treatment. Once established they can be very hardy, but those first two weeks are the telling time. When your chromis die do they have red patches on their sides or maybe white ones?

Nope...just took the 2nd corpse out...looks gray in patches...typical for a dead fish...3 alive so far...no red spots or white or anything...as I said in cp from the beginning...Oh well...with my first batch, I lost about 1/2 and then they stopped dying...

I bought a batch of 8 bgc once and added them to a thriving dt. Same thing, they slowly died off one by one for no apparent reason. No other deaths in that tank. Never was able to figure out why.

Same experience here - no obvious signs of illness or aggression. Fish all looked happy, active & eating during the day. At night I'd lose 1 or 2 until after 1 week only one was left. Still in QT and doing great. Alone.

I would assume picking off the weakest link, I am dealing with the same thing, now for the last week, I have one hiding by the overflow.

I've had 3 BGC for 3 months (tres hombres).
They went through TTM and QT with a Foxface.
They've only ever been fed once a day.
I haven't seen any aggressions. All 3. are still healthy. (knocks on head)

Love tres hombres lol. I also have 3 in QT. I am noticing aggression to the smallest one..

When constantly fed you will see the aggression drop dramatically. In nature they eat far more often, much more like anthias. They will survive on a 1 or 2 feedings schedule BUT they will kill off the weakest until late only 1 survives.
