Anyone know somewhere that sells juveniles? Also whats your guy’s experience with these guys?? Looking at these for my 300 as I want to add one trigger to the tank. These guys are stunning. Love undalated triggers but with their rep I wanted to stay away from them. Also considered a clown trigger but these blue lines are just so beautiful! Would be the only trigger. Tank is semi aggressive to aggressive stock more predatory. Tangs, angels, eels, puffer, marine betta, snapper, maroon clowns, and eels are the current stock and planned stock.

Fuscus triggers are notoriously aggressive once they pass 5-6", some even arguing they're only one step down from an undulated in terms of agressiveness. I would go with something like a niger or any of the xanthichthys triggers instead.

They absolutely are. It really is a shame that some of the best looking fish are so aggressive/large! And no personal experience myself, but I remember reading about them all the way back on reef central in my early days of the hobby. Was able to find a few threads this morning to verify the info before responding here.

There is a wealth of information in the Reefcentral archives that I would recommend paging through, one thread in particular discusses a lot of triggers and angels called "130 x 36 x 36 inbound... any suggestions?" In the fish only and aggressive tanks section of the forum (Sort by number of replies from the beginning, it's the first one that comes up). It's a very lengthy read, but has lots of really good information, and you get to watch the development of an awesome build, along with some milestone events in the hobby.

New York aquatic has a couple on sale right now. I think one is 2 to 3 inches I got one from them last month he’s about 4 1/2 inches awesome looking fish they are very active. I threw some frag plugs in the tank for him to play with, it likes to swim around with them then spit them out. It’s like giving a dog a toy.

Yeah I did a fair amount of research on these guys and it seems that getting them tiny might help curb aggression if its the smallest fish. My fish are all more aggressive too so I was leaning towards getting one

Yeah I did see some threads that suggested that, but it seems like everyone with a blue line over 6” noted that it had killed some fish and evetually needed to be isolated or rehomed, even with specimens that were purchased very small- it seems like it’s more of an if as opposed to when as it pertains to them getting extremely aggressive. I would be interested to see if anybody has successfully kept one with other fish for more than a year at a larger size.

No not at all, i have a banana wrasse, pink face wrasse, fox face, pair of maroon clowns and Australian stripy in there with him, and he doesn’t mess with any of them
