Blue throat trigger question

I received a male and female blue throat trigger pair a few days ago... both were doing great. Apparently something happened in the tank because the rocks shifted, pinching the female between two rocks and she died.

ive seen that the males may lose a little color without a mate, but is that the only negative thing that can happen if i don’t get another female? In other words, do they need a mate to be happy and healthy, non aggressive, and so on

They don't need a mate, most people keep single males. As far as the rock thing goes, triggers wedge themselves into rock crevices, and likely one shifted. It would be a good idea to make sure your rock structure is stable.
