Bonsai Sensei weird

So I had a period of alk instability and damaged my corals about 5 months ago. This bonsai is growing back in a sheet. It's pretty cool, but odd. Wondered if y'all had any knowledge why?, how, what it might end up doing? Thanks!

Most likely in an encrusting stage, and trying to make the most use out of the light it gets. Growing back down the same branches might not be ideal, in the position you've placed it. This is not super uncommon with regrowth on acros.

There are at least 3 different venders with their own bonsai. They're all the exact same coral and all wildly different in pricing.

When portions of the coral die off, the coral won’t re-populate those branches. The dead parts are basically just live rock at that point, and will get encrusted over.

It needs to base out again. Keep it happy and it will start shooting out in no time.
