I have a BRS booster pump for my RODI setup. The shut off for the booster isn't very reliable though. If I move the float by hand when it's running, the booster shuts off as expected. However, when left unattended and the float rises gradually as the bucket fills, it does NOT trip the booster to shut off. I've seen solenoids that shut off the water output, perhaps that would tie in better and trigger the booster to shut off because it's a more sudden build up of pressure? But I'm curious, is there anything that will turn stop the water flow AND kill a power outlet?

Thanks,
Joe

I’m not sure I understand the kill the power outlet part of your question. I can tell you that if you add a solenoid(closed position) to the system along with a timer programmed for the amount of time you want the rodi unit to run, it will shut off the water and it won’t kill a power outlet at least in the dozen times I’ve set a system up like this. You can source this stuff or talk to someone at Autotopoff.com they got this area figured out.

Basically, when the bucket is full of water, I would like water output stopped AND the booster pump to be shut off. I used the term 'kill the power outlet' to mean turn the booster pump off, cut off power to it.

Ok. If you can establish how long it takes to fill the bucket you can run the booster pumps power through a timer that kills its power. The same timer could have the solenoid plugged into it which obviously kills the water and then you’re not depending only on a float. I’ve used this application on Redsea’s auto top off holding tanks and it’s inexpensive and works.

I think I have the same one. Never would shut off and the float valve would never fully close on the float valve.

First thing I figured out is all 3 of my float switches from brs were junk. None would shut off unless you pulled them up.

Inline solenoid from brs would never shut my water off either.

I resorted to just plugging and unplugging the booster pump in when I needed it.

Hopefully you will have better luck than I did.

Try autotopoff.com. They’re solenoids always worked me. They also sell float valves.

Huh, searching around the web and just came across this. Pretty much exactly what I was looking for from the 'turn off the booster outlet' angle.

Auto Aqua Smart Level

Thanks for the suggestions and ideas. Currently I'd prefer not to use a timer, but it's on the list of possibilities. I fill a 5 gal bucket which is connected to the output, then when full in 45 min or so, I pour it off into another 5 gal bucket and carry it up to the brute can. Repeat a few times.

I use one of these along with the float shut off. So after the float shuts it off, then the power shuts off at the time I set it.

Thanks! that's another good idea and 60m would work pretty well as it takes about 45-50min to fill the bucket.
