Bounce mushrooms shrinking!

Ever since I dosed reef flux to deal with byropsis my og bounce garden and my godspawn bounce have been shrinking. My uranium bounce is also getting smaller.

Has anyone experienced this before? How did you reverse it?

Never heard of this. From what I understand bounces are physical anomalies , some says it’s mutation, if it’s mutation it should not be changing on physical environment in same generation. Which is why your observation is fascinating.

they like dirty water so its probably too clean. If bryopsis cant grow then bounce will most likely also die.

Well , bryopsis is dying not due to nutrient, but due to fluconazole present in reef flux. Bryopsis also don’t need nutrient (simplifying ) it’s an algae, it need only light and some substrate

Algae definitely need nutrients to survive.

What are the parameters of your tank?

Alk is 9. Salinity 1.025, temp 77f. I’ll have to test calcium when I get home. I use kalk for dosing so if alk is at 9 my calcium should be around 450.

I do have flame algae growing in the tank. I feed 2 cubes of mysis, a piece of lrs with reef roids every other day (have rock anemones, three bta’s, chalices, acans, zoas) that I all spot feed in addition to the bounces.

I need to test my P. Have to borrow a friends kit for that.

I definitely have nutrients in the water. I used to grow bounces like weeds. The byropsis died to something in the flucoxable.

Not just the bubbles. The entire mushroom. I’ve lost about four already.

I think that you can´t see the forrest because of all trees :) I do not think it has to do with any parameters in your tank - more than the most obvius - the concentration of the chemical you put in in order to kill bryopsis. Do some large WC ASP.

I’ve done 10 gallons total (25 gallon aio) so far (5 gallons each of last two weeks). I’ll make another 10 and do a big one tonight, see if that can’t turn the tide.

The problem with most of these human medicines that have been popular among aquarist is their love to fat. It means that they will be bioaccumulated in living tissues in higher concentrations than in the water. However, the drug that seems to be active in your case, fluconazole, seems to be less lipophilic than others – it means that it also has hydrophilic features – with other words – can dissolve in some way in water. It means that it can be more easily removed from living tissues. It can be effective with WC – at least it will not accumulate more

Yeah, it also needs nitrates and phosphates... those are nutrients.

Sorry guys- just saw these. All but one of my bounces died. He hasn’t grown in three years. I just bought a new larger one this weekend. Here he is after three years of using this terrible product . In the background you can see the new one I just purchased. Yes, I’m still dealing with hair algae lol. I over feed to keep the baby/small rock anemones happy.
