I've been a big proponent of this treatment from the beginning. Although I'm against using chemicals and medications in my tanks, I had to treat bryopsis or loose corals. As a matter of fact I had already lost corals so I took a chance with this treatment and haven't looked back.Fluconazole is working in a lot more than 50% of the time. the poll has a currently trying the medication that makes it off. there are very few people that reported it did not work ksanfranfan
My 50 percent statement is a reflection of the data collected. I would bet it's higher than 50 percent as well. Problem is that we don't know what the actual success rate is so it's all speculation as far as the cure rate is concerned.
We also have to consider that some people have been trying to treat solely for GHA, and other algae, and some are treating but not sure if they have bryopsis or another form of algae. Considering the everything and the polling can be skewed. There are 2 threads running concurrently. We also have to look at that as well. Some have posted in both threads and haven't reported all of their info in both.
I'm not saying that this treatment is only has a 50 percent success rate. My statement was in response to a 98 percent statement that was repeated more than once and then skewed into a mathematical equation of number of corals that survived vs ones that died. That doesn't equate to an overall success rate for this medication based on a whole.
We can measure success in a number of ways. Is loosing 1 coral deemed not successful if it kills bryopsis or is loosing a few corals, a fish, or inverts while killing bryopsis a success.
The intention of the thread is killing bryopsis. At this point we know that it does that in the majority of tanks. What was being discussed is what else might have or might not have been killed due to this medication.
With all of that said I believe that we can agree that this treatment has a higher success rate than 50 percent. Everything else, including the data from the polls inhibits us from knowing just how high that number is.
