So, my current display is a bit overgrown and the silicone on one of the seams is a little suspect, so I decided to migrate to a Red Sea Peninsula 500. My LFS sorted me out with a decent deal and free delivery.

SUMMARY OF PLAN FOR THE NEW SYSTEM

Tank: Red Sea Reefer Peninsula 500

Flow: Tunze Stream 3s x2, Jebao OW-50s x2 – positioned on either side of overflow so no magnets are on the display glass. Tunze set to a synchronised pulse with the vertical flow deflectors. Jebaos set to alternate.

Return pump: Eheim 1260 + UltraReef CaRx diversion

Controller functions (GHL Profilux): Heater failsafe, CaRx pH failsafe (but not control), skimmer overflow protection, kalkwasser failsafe, osmolator failsafe, timer for lights (display and refugium), maintenance functions (to turn key equipment on again automatically), dosing schedules

Filtration:

• Mechanical: powerfilter, filter socks, protein skimmer (Ultra Reef UKS-160)
• Biological: live rock, siporax, chaetomorpha refugium (lit by x2 Tunze 8831 refugium LEDs)
• Chemical: carbon in bag for 3 days every 2 months; cuprisorb in bag 24-7.

Dosing: UltraReef UCS-140 CaRx running marble chips, saturated kalkwasser (250g kalk + 750ml vinegar per 60L RODI), plus DIY trace elements via GHL Doser 2.1 (sodium iodide, iron citrate/manganese sulphate, potassium chloride, strontium sulphate)

Heating: Schego 300w + Schego temp controller + Profilux failsafe regulation

Cooling: Aircon for room + GHL cooling fan

ATO: Tunze Osmolator 3155 for RODI, IKS Vario Blue 2 for kalkwasser (backup float switch + timer) running at 7ml/minute.

Lighting: All GNC for display - 1,428 diodes

Below table shows layout of the lights when viewed from above, the Silvermoon bars clip on to the Blurays and angle inwards to help with shadowing:

Nice! I have had my scape cycling for a few weeks now. Added chaeto to the sump last week and 3L of siporax from the current display so shouldn't be long before operation transfer...

GNC does not market itself like some of the other brands - but if you check out my current 90-gallon build by clicking my build thread badge, you'll see their results - they also have an instagram page @GNCleditalia. Large panel LEDs - great build quality and passive cooling. Very popular in the Italian SPS scene. Would recommend a Google. I really like them because:

- Awesome build quality: splash proof, 10mm PMMA lens, large aluminium heat sink with no moving parts, so easy to clean with a simple wipe of a cloth.
- Full light coverage - clams do not even react when I pass my hand over the top because the light is so diffuse. SPS can grow into large structures with minimal shading issues.
- Having lots of diodes working together produces enormous PAR compared with a few higher-wattage diodes. It also means no disco effect on the bottom of the tank.
- Minimal control, but very little to go wrong. Three channels, wifi controllable schedule with ramp times etc.
- Come with a hanging kit as standard. Some great tank mounting options also available.
- Despite having only a few colours of diodes, coral health is outstanding. Have had SPS spawn under them, so the spectrum is perfectly adequate, without any gimmicks.

^ yeah i'll look into them I have lights for my 650P but you never know right.

I should of done the same with cycling my rock work i thought about it but the build was going so slow and I did not have a tub. IDK I guess I could of made it work but I was in no hurry.

post some pics when you can I want to see you 500P your gonna love a peninsula tank this is my 2nd. once you go peninsula you will not go back.

I have moved my fish and cuttings of corals across. A little bit of cable management still to do but it has turned out nice so far.

no way these fused colonies would fit in the new build. So plenty of frags and reactor media to be had...

Thanks! No montipora now apart from a chunk of rainbow. Nice to have space for the acros. Have a few milli in a frag tank I may deploy. Haha

CO2 regulator arrived the other week. Have hooked it up. Works like a charm. Nice and steady bubble rate! Thanks to @bettatail for building it.


Major components of this system:
Go stainless steel co2 double stage regulator
SMC 210 series stainless steel check valve
Numatics miniature solenoid, 430 FR stainless steel, 1/2 billion official on/off life cycle, 1.5 watt
Parker hannifin high precision HR series metering valve, model number #1 with turn counter vernier handle.

@bubblemytip already following up! I also just read the previous build because the GNC Led. I was considering Ecotech XR15 Gen 5 for my upgrade but after earing so many people complaining about the fan noise...now I'm not so sure about it any more, the Mobius App is fancy but I can't fall the web of marketing, so, considering the Philips Coral Care gen 2 or even 2 of this, also with the bars. Whats your honest opinion ? The upgrade will be also Redsea reefer 300XL or 425Xl! Thank you !

I have installed the new GNC M Pro for a bout 2 weeks. I can control the unit through Wi-Fi connection, tweaking lighting schedule, cloud, lightning, ect. However, the unit seems unable to connect online service like firmware update or moon lighting based on real time lunar cycle (moon phasing). So, how do we update firmware without online service? Any thoughts on that?
