I moved my (what I think) is a cabbage leather up to the top of my tank today just to see how it would do. I had it in the sand bed, but it kept getting covered in sand (probably maroon clown) and just didn't seem to be growing or opening fully. The coral seems to love its new spot in direct flow at the top in bright lighting, its bigger than I've ever seen it and has more polyps sticking out than I've ever noticed.
However, the anemone next to it (which I'm not sure what it is, maybe curly cue?), is acting different. The tentacles are usually straight out but now they are kind of corkscrewed (maybe corkscrew anemone?). I figure I'll wait it out and see what happens and see if the anemone still takes food, but could there be a potential positioning issue here? They are probably a good 8" away from each other but the flow is going over the coral and towards the anemone, although the anemone is not in direct flow. I also re-positioned the powerhead that is flowing on and around them, which may have changed its behavior as well, but I've re-positioned the powerhead before and not seen it corkscrew up like it is now.
