Cade Chaos Grimoire

Nutrient heavy tank + I dose phyto a few times a week. I used to have a bunch in the old tank until my dusky wrasse decided they were a delicious snack - now that the tanks are split up and this one doesn't have any rude inhabitants I can restock again. Stay tuned for an updated photo once the 21 I'm putting in today calm down

Are you culturing your own phyto? I love the idea of consistently dosing pods/phyto, but it's cost prohibitive if I want the clean stuff.

I have been debating starting to feed ROE to try and get some diversity of food into the tank without blowing up phosphates using things like Reef Roids (although benereef is less of a phos factory).

Looking forward to seeing the new colony of 'em. You'll have to drop an FTS of the 1500!

Ever see one out of its encasement?

I was for awhile but got lazy and started having it delivered from a semi-local place. Doesn't travel long.

Had time to unload, but dr appt shortly so rearranging will be later.

That's fair enough, and the laziness is precisely why I haven't done it myself. Less tank chores = more tank love in my world...

Ummm, no! Is it going to go back in or make a new one? Pretty cool looking creature!
Should just create a new one, there's nothing in this tank that should cause it harm in the process so I think he'll be fine.

Looking a little chaotic in here.

My doctor appt was teledoc and I was very distracted with this view the entire time.

I think it's time to clean the powerhead bags.

Lots of frozen now.

Fedex delayed the shipment an extra day and I was worried that 3 days in transit they'd be melted and bad. Turns out, BRS overpacks.... Insanely thick insulation and enough dry ice they probably would have been fine for a week in transit.

How are you liking the pro variety mix? Have been eyeing new foods, would like to get more variety in my tank.
I've used it in the past with the old tank. Each cube is a different thing, instead of flat packs like rods that are all mixed together. I have garbage hands so I prefer cubes over breaking flat packs though. This way they get whatever mystery cube I grab on a day to day basis at least. Not quite as varied as a mixed flat but still better than the same thing day in and day out.

That’s a good call. I prefer the cubes simply because I hate messing with the flat packs… currently I just get a variety of cubes and mix em all together once a week and they get what they get.

Plus, then I don’t have to touch the flat packed food and my wife doesn’t gag from across the house at the smell of the stuff (looking at you reef frenzy).

Thanks for the explanation, looks like I’ll be ordering a pack!

I also prefer cubes cause garbage hands.

I thought I lucked up one day and got a seafood medley for a great price. Small cubes with all kinds of good fishy stuff packed in. And then I found out it was gelatin based and none of my fish will touch it :(

Got an email from orphek this morning. It shipped, but they don't have a tracking number for me for a few days so no obsessively watching where it is yet.

Guess I should investigate how to mount this thing...

The hanging mounts they include for the bars is extremely short. But they do have brackets that you can screw into something.

This is the too large one they sent me and I wanted to see how bright it was lol. That’s a 36” bar. I can measure the lines and I can get some pics of the other thjnf they sent too maybhelp with your brainstorming

List of things to do tomorrow....

Set up doser on peninsula to at least run 4 of the dailies
Research 2nd doser (anyone familiar with the reef factory brand??
I'm going to need 7 heads for sure... 5 dailies and calcium/alk once I figure them out. I've never bothered setting mag up because I can usually just do a minimal monthly correction and all is well.

Set up other powerhead??

Try to sort out the duster situation so it's less chaos - though the seahorses and mandarin don't seem to mind - nor do the dusters themselves.

Also, if you're present here and I haven't engaged in your thread, let me know - I'm a mess and can't remember who I am and am not following right now. :grimacing-face:
Sorry
