I'm thinking 2 parts, like a Tupperware bowl, "bowl" around the pump, "lid" behind magnet. Attached together with a couple zip ties. Something big enough to leave a inch between the "bowl" and actual cage of pump.
Except the "bowl", is a 3d printed cage.

I think one of the issues she's running into is the magnet falling off the glass already. Putting something behind the magnet might cause it to lose magnetism again?

What if she printed a cage that more or less clipped onto the powerhead...?

Nah not this tank - That's the MP40 in the peninsula.

We have tried a few to clip onto the Nero, but they have not been effective.

Realized this was acrylic not glass when I picked it up today and tapped on it. So that fits again.

They probaly need to be bigger/ tighter cage. In my mind, the goal isn't to stop them from hitching there; but to leave a gap(from the pump) to keep thier tails out the pump if they chose to.

This exactly. The ones that clipped right on still allowed them to get their tails in far enough to get caught

My brother and I caught 2 gopher tortoises and kept them as pets, when we were younger. We closed off a 6x6 area with Cinder blocks and fed them lettuce, broccoli, and fruit from nearby citrus trees.(grapefruit, oranges, lemons/ limes). We only has them a couple weeks before parents made us release them...

I had some kind of crazy gelatinous something or another growing in with my gha in the pony tank this time... very difficult to remove. I hand plucked everything I could (had to net/scoop it out because it squeezed through the tongs) and siphoned even more out with this water change.

Hopefully replacing the uv sterilizer bulb when it arrives will help. That and getting a better flow situation...

I have a turtle thats been living under my porch for over 5 years. She lays eggs every year. Never in the same spot. I randomly catch her when im in the yard. I googled box turtle eggs hatch time. 7 months. When I catch her laying, within the next 3 days, they were always gone. Something dug them up for a meal. Next time I will cover them with some kind of cage. Maybe they will hatch.

Test printed a flat to make sure the magnet holds through it and the glass. It does.

Time to try printing a whole thing.

Careful mowing the lawn....just saying mowers are hazards to turtles.

Ordered some reagents. Ordered some corals.

Ordered the replacement UV bulb. Yesterday.

Hanging out in here for awhile today to keep an eye on the tank and see if the ponies try to hitch on the cage and if it's far enough out to prevent them catching into anything. Fingers crossed.

Immediate improvement in flow w/ just one caged instead of bagged.

Also finally measured out and ordered a replacement lid for the cube that will work with the new light. Looks like a estimated 4wk lead time.

So far no hitching attempted on the powerhead cage.

Yes! Cage is effective. Put the one on the other Nero later that day. No problems, much better flow. Hooray.

Today a small coral order & my reeftopia order of peppermints, snails, and sponges.
