Calcium nitrate solution freezing point

I ordered a gallon of calcium nitrate solution and it was out for delivery but it was delayed because of ‘severe weather’ (read, they didn’t feel like delivering it. There’s no severe weather nor has there been today).

It will likely sit in their truck in single digit temperatures overnight. I’m worried it’ll freeze. Should I be worried or will it be ok?

How much below freezing is your location? The more concentrated the CaN the lower the freezing point depression.

I don’t think the container will fail and the solution will be fine.

Well it’s 11 degrees now. It’s going down to 2. Hopefully it’s concentrated enough.

Assuming the container doesn’t break, it will be fine. If any solids are present after thawing just warm and shake it.

Well I just got notified that it’s damaged which really…. Stinks. My reef is nitrate starved and it already took a certain company a week almost to get it here. I just hope they’ll send a new one and not on the slow boat. Thank you all for the help. I appreciate it.

You may find baking ammonia at a local grocery, or next day from Amazon. That may be a better way to dose N anyway.
