Can someone id this?

I would guess it to be a variety of Coraline Algae is all, I had both purple and green that resembled this one before.

Not coraline because it grows off of the rock. Thanks though :-)

There are coralline types that grow in a plating or shelving type of formation. Snap a piece off and you'll know for sure.

Yup. Not all coralline simply encrusts.

crustose coralline algae sp. It comes in brown, purple, and red.

I have some on my rocks also that came from a LFS. More of a red color but acts just like coralline algae. IMHO I would let it grow.

Ah ha! I didn't know about that type of coralline. It is the same color as some of the other coralline in my tank. Thanks for the help gentlemen! I likey a lot! After it grows a bit I might try and break a piece off and attach it to my overflow. Happy reefing! :-)
