Tank somehow got chipped during my move. No idea when or how it happened. It is on a 280g tank. It is on the back side of it. As you can see it was hit in the corner with something. It did not go all the way through, it is a piece that sheered off. It is 2mm at most in the thickest part. The corner is only broke on the back piece of glass, it did not break the side piece. Was wondering if there was any kind of filler I could put in there and then maybe another piece of glass from top to bottom that is wide enough to cover where the piece sheered off. Kind of like a eurobrace on a corner. Any experience on this would be appreciated as I cannot afford to buy a new tank.

I love you man. I cried tonight when I saw this chip in my tank, was about ready to quit. I feel much better now, thank you.

+1 you can get it at the auto parts store. Also I would get some silicone and do a heavy coat over it about 6" wide just to be safe.

Do you think i am better off filling the whole void with the windshield repair, or should I include the sheered piece of glass with the filler?

Hello, just wanted to let you know. Windshield repair will only hide a crack it does not repair it. Also for it to cure you need a good uv light or put the tank in the sun
I had a similar expeirience a few months ago. I used the windshield kit 3m offers. It hid it nicely but it kept on growing within days of the fix. I ended up buying a new tank. Being that yours is a chip and not a crack as mine was. The kit should help hide it.
Since it is the back of the tank. Your idea of a euro brace would be a better way to go. IMO
Good luck and I hope everything works out.
Cheers

So I ended up getting an epoxy indicated for glass. I filled the void where the piece sheered off with the epoxy and then stuck the piece of sheered glass back in its home. It filled in nicely and actually looks decent. After it dried I put a 1/4" piece of glass that is about 6"x3" over the area that was repaired and epoxyed it down for extra support. The tank has been full of water for 3 days now with no leaks or signs of stress. :)
