Canister Filter on Reef Tank

That Oase is a nice unit!

The pond filter I'm using is bio beads only, so carbon will done via a different method. The pond filter has a blower on it for backwashing. Is the backwashing the primary maintenance that's needed on these types of filters, or is there something else I should be concerned about?
I clean out the pre filter weekly, and take apart and clean out the entire filter once a month. There are I think 6 trays inside, and it depends on what you have in the trays as to a cleaning schedule.

I run the oase thermometer 350. I do this for 2 reasons. 1) the pre filter as mentioned above. And 2) the heater sits inside the filter so the only thing in my display is the intake and output of the canister. Now that being said I also run the shell of a sunsun 604b with the sponges provided (shell meaning no pump) as the first pre-filter so it runs through the sun sun which is just sponges then the pre-filter of the oase where it goes into the main filter, is heated and treated with chemical, biological, and mechanical filtration Then finally through a UV sterilizer Then to the output side.

I clean both pre-filters every 3 days (much like a sock) and change out the chemical filtration (purigen and carbon) every 2 weeks rotating between the two. And the main oase filter 1x a month. (Just the sponges) and my tank is doing great! Corals have all doubled in size and the water stays crystal clear. Tank is 6 months old and coral is about 2 months old collectively
