Is there better instructions somewhere on how to create your own master solution. Love the idea of combining at least the “dailies” from RM and putting on a drip. I think this is also far more cost effective
This thread is specific to Captiv8. Reef Moonsiners specificly states you can't combine their elements.

Send Chris your latest ICP and he will give you a recipe or you can upload to the Reefability app if you have it.
This is for Captiv8 products

Yes was planning to switch from Moonshiners to this. Thanks

I have been using the captiv8 for about 8 months with good success. However it's the ICP tests that I found to be wildly different. I was using Triton but recently switched over to ATI it's a bit more expensive but the process seems better.

Has anyone else switched to Captiv8 from Reef Moonshiners.

Main thought is with Captiv8 I can combine the dailies and drip them 24/7. Finding no matter how high I dose some dailies on RM they continue to test deficient (Iron, Mn, etc.)

I’ve been told Iron and Mn are hard to test. I dose high remounts of each with my captiv8 solution. Mine show 0 on ICP-OES tests. I have ordered some MS tests to see if the iron and manganese show up.

Yes, I only do MS now. Values are still too low.

I'm trying to better understand how the Captiv8 method works. From what I gather, if my ICP test shows certain levels and my corals start consuming elements more rapidly (as they grow), I would need to continually adjust the amount of trace elements I dose. That sounds similar to what I already do with the Triton method—when alkalinity consumption increases, I increase the Core7 dosage, and after every ICP, I adjust specific elements like vanadium, manganese, iodine, etc.

So my question is: with Captiv8, is the approach the same? Do I need to send ICP results to them regularly so they can provide a new ‘custom mix’ based on current consumption patterns?

My understanding is that it is an icp test and dose method like Moonshine, Triton, and possibly others.

It is. The difference is that Dr. Wood will interpret it for you and give you the formula to make your own solution or make the solution himself for about $30 including shipping.

I'm kind of curious as to why it's okay for trace elements in Captiv8 to be mixed together whereas you can't do it with Moonshine? I've seen a lot of other vendors mixing elements as well. Captiv8 seems much more appealing due to the nature of being able to mix the elements together vs individual dosing.

Whether one can mix chemicals depends on both the chemical forms involved and the counterions (the ions there purely to balance charge) that are present, as well as one’s level of concern if they react with one another and change form.
