I have a wild caught colony and yesterday the mouths opened up. They still have not shut and it's 24 hours later. They are not expanding for food! I think it's dying! Any advice? Water 77, alk 8.5 calcium 420, mag 1400 phos .o3, ammonia 0 and nitrates 0 Salt 1.026-1.027

Update: I did replace my 250 DE MH 20k bulb and I started using Bionic Alk & Calc

I would think dipping it in revive (if you have it) may be worth a try. Has a good reputation for stopping receding chalices.

What kind of lighting is it in? Have you tried placing it in low light?

250 DE MH 20k bulb and I started using Bionic Alk & Calc. The Chalice was on the side and not under the 250 watt. I'll try moving it to a shaded area.

We have tried variations of that type many times and theY all end up dying. Not sure why. They look fine at first, but then just slowly recede and die. Sorry. Wish i had a more positive answer.

sounds like it wasnt acclimated long enough........ your mag level is alittle low....i would raise it to 1500-1550 ...raise your alk to 10 and your calcium to 450....sounds like it is still in shock

Ok, will slowly bump up the alk, mag and calc.

Question, Could the Bionic Alk mix be bad? It seemed that the coral stressed out after adding a few drops in the sump. The tank and sump contain about 100 gallons of water and I added 3 ml of Bionic ALK and the coral with in the hour started stress out?

I would asume it didnt get acclimate too gud and i woudnt dare even dipping it now..it will stress him more and ur level seems to be alright...I might try to lower the salinity little bit but very slowly...Put him in shade and away from the others critters as much as possible ..it might hve been shocked with strong light...
I would just feed him heavy by dipping what ever u feed in garlic extreme...
we'll all can hve different opinions at this time and this usualy works for me..

I wouldn't raise your params cause if it is in shock that might make it worse.
Your params are almost identical to mine and I don't see anything wrong with them, just double check your test kits to make sure one isn't bad to
Be on the safe side
Only thing I can think of is slowly drop your salinity some and see if that helps?

Skins peeling off! I just fragged it and removed the bad areas. Dipped it in Revive and put it several different locations in the tank. Mouths still open though.
