Just noticed my chalices are crashing. All happened in one day.

Checked vital paramiters and they all are perfect:( Temp,Salinity,Phosphate,PH,Amonia,DKH ) Replaced filter Pads. Going to check Calcuim next. All other corals are openned and looking great.

Only 2 things that were done today: # 1 added 2 plugs with 2 zoos and floated the cup. #2 fixed a rock that had fallen covered w/ red spotted and blue mushrooms.

I transfered the sad ones to another tank.

Any ideas??

well other than mag...im guessing ur salinity is on point as well...........ive never had any problems with chalices......their like hard to kill for me.....usually if they recede it was usually due to stingers for me. I would also probably dip them and place em in low light low flow.

This happened very sudden.
I was putting a wood floor last couple days on other side of house and made some dust?

Any chemicals (treated) in the wood. I'de at least run carbon if you're not already and do a water change to get some contaminants out. That dust is so light it could end up anywhere in the house ;).

Water change, run some carbon, and check your mag. I lost a few chalices before I figured out my mag was way low. Got it up and everything stabilized.

All commendable suggestions. The only time I've had any trouble with an echino was when I let my salinity get way out of whack on the high side. Once rectified, that echino recovered and is now thriving.

In addition to the above posts, really high or really low alk melt my chalices in a heart beat. Double check that test, IMO.

Low alk and ca have dogged my chalices in the past. Keep mag over 1300 imo.

I try to keep my Mg around 1350-1400, Alk 9-10, Cal 420-450, I had a similar experience a while back, Air Fresheners the ones u hang up in the wall, I had one close to my tank and I started having problems with the corals, I didn't know what it was, I started eliminating all the options till I came to the conclusion that the airfreshener was the cause of my problems, good luck.

I had the same problem last year and the only thing that stopped it was daily (for 7 days)25% water changes. Everything checked OK before so I cannot give any rationale for what happed or why the WC helped.

It has to be related to the dust from installing wood floor.
There is no way I grow these things from pinheads and loose them the same day with peramiters good.
They were fine in the morning and then after I cleaned up the mess from working I got issues .
