Would it be possible to use this in a display tank? As of now no corals and inverts. I was reading up and it says the medication can be eradicated with water changes and carbon. I do 5 gallon water changes everyday minus the weekend. I don't run carbon but I would to remove medication. If I did this and added carbon for say 1-3 months would I be able to have corals and inverts?

It looks like you can, but I can't find anything that conclusively says it would work.

Do you have any sand or rocks in the tank? If so, I'd be worried about the CP being absorbed into those media.

^^This; also the heterotrophic bacteria present in a DT will most likely biodegrade CP.

For these reasons, copper or hypo are better DT treatment options. Copper - a poison and not a true medication - is unaffected by heterotrophs; and you always have the option of testing to ensure it is staying within the therapeutic range.

What I gather and have read that some have used it in display tanks
My issue would be lights. It's becomes less effective in lighting. My display tank is in between my living room and dining room. I do have a window on dining room side that daylight gets into some. My kitchen is opposite my dining room and the kitchen light is always on

Light only degrades the CP powder itself; you are fine once it has been dosed in water.

I would dose in my sump which is in my basement anyway. Turn lights out in my basement.
So with what I read already should I dose for the 30 days? I would turn off skimmer
I have to read some more of the thread. Only 10 pages in so far

Are you trying it in your display tank?

I dosed CP in my DT a few years back and wouldn't recommend it. It killed all the algae, and I believe it had unintended consequences to my biofilter. Never could get my chemistry right again (phosphates out of control due to the breakdown of CP) and had to do a complete teardown/rebuild. On top of all that, it didn't resolve the crypto infection I was fighting. To Humblefish's point above, there are strong indications that the heterotrophic bacteria in the biofilter breaks down CP.

I had a good experience dosing CP in my DT. It was a prophylactic treatment performed at a low dose of 10mg/gal. This started 21 days ago and at this low dose rate, CP killed all algae on the glass and the biofilter was fine. I also did a full Prazipro treatment without issue in combination without issue. Be sure to keep your aeration up with Prazi as I have see issues with that before and remember that my CP dose was 1/4 of the regular 40mg/gal that most use.

Be careful If you have any amount of algae. It is also a herbicide and kills all algae which can cause a big amonia spike...
