Welcome ot R2R! Glad to have you here.
Possibly a contaminant got in there? Got a cleaning lady? Or any air fresheners or cleaning products used near by? Children that like to play with coins or other things?

PH is 8.2 and thanks guys
If your fish are breathing heavy or faster than normal you need to get more oxygen in the water. Bacterial blooms can really drop the O2 levels if that is what it is.

By chance have you tested your alkalinity? If you are CO2 limited you might have raised your alk without seeing it impact your pH.

I still would do a water change to try to lower that bacteria (if it is a bacterial bloom) need to get a sample under a microscope :)

water changes never hurt! Running carbon is a good idea and won't hurt to do either.... just in case.

i had crabs kick the bucket from an alk swing. Do you dose alkalinity or any buffers or anything for that matter. What are your parameters? alk, calc, mag, phosphate, nitrate, and temp?

Have you been dosing alk, ca, mag lately? I was dosing daily for a week and one afternoon I came home and found my tank cloudy with lights on. Started panicking and immediate thought was mini cycle and ammonia! While trying to stay calm I noticed my fish were acting normal, corals were a little irritated, and snails were a little irritated also. Don't remember doing anything that would cause a mini cycle so I stopped dosing and just monitored and tank cleared in 3 days. My thought is calcium precipitation. I ordered new test kits and I'm anticipating really high readings...

I'm guessing it is soft corals that are turning black?

Sounds like you may have a toxin in your tank. Are you able to run activated carbon as a filter?
