Hi, I am sort of freaking out. I have had my clown goby since January and he has been steadily getting fatter. This morning, I thought he was dead and he was floating on the side. when I went to scoop him out, he swam back to his favorite coral. I am not sure what this means. Is he about to die? Is he sick. TIA Rich

Sounds like a swim bladder issue. Let's get more eyes on this.

#mods Can we get this moved to the fish disease forum please?
I agree this sounds like a swim bladder issue. Unless it was a behavioral fluke. When the fish returned to its perch, did it begin to float again or did all seem well?

it seemed well. what the heck is swim bladder issue. I watched for the next hour and a half and was ok but had to go to work. I don't want him to die as he is one of my favorite fish. He was as thin as a rail when I got him and finally got him nice and chunky

You think I need to worry? I came back from work and he is swimming like it was a belated april fools joke? He just ate dinner. I just hope he will make it overnight. Thanks, Rich

if he's doing fine now, then by all means, just keep an eye on him and have a few peas available just in case. :)
